These are some of the exciting movies that you can watch to keep the lockdown blues at bay:

  1. Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui

If you love Bollywood comedy dramas and are addicted to them, then this is one movie that you should certainly watch. Streaming on Netflix, the movie is directed by Abhishek Kapoor and stars superstars Ayushmann Khurrana and Vaani Kapoor as the main characters.

It starts with Manu, played by Ayushmann, as a bodybuilder in a gym who often must deal with his family’s taunts. However, Maanvi, played by Vaani Kapoor, soon joins his gym as a Zumba instructor and sparks fly between the two soon. All is smooth, until Manu discovers something that makes him realise all is not well in their love story.

  1. Sardar Udham

Streaming on Amazon Prime Video, this is a Bollywood movie that tells the real-life story of Sardar Udham, who was a famous revolutionary freedom fighter from India. Starring Vicky Kaushal in the main role, the movie brilliantly captures the emotions and challenges that Sardar must go through as he plots his revenge upon Michael O’Dwyer, who was responsible for the Jallianwala Bagh massacre in Amritsar.

  1. Encanto

A musical comedy at its very heart streaming on Disney+Hotstar, this is a heartwarming story that takes viewers through a hidden place in the mountains of Colombia, which is called Encanto. It is a magical place and every child who is born here receives a gift or talent.

However, in the Madrigal family, Mirabel is one outlier for she never received any gifts. The movie takes on a swift surprise as Mirabel ends up being the one person who can truly save the magic that surrounds the region of Encanto. The word Encanto itself means the allure of someone or something, and the Disney does brilliantly to capture the essence of the word, in everything.

  1. Kaagaz

Kaagaz is an Indian comedy streaming on Zee5 that gives us a glimpse into the dark side of Indian bureaucracy, where nothing gets done. Noted actor Pankaj Tripathi plays the main role in this movie, as his on-screen persona, Bharat Singh Bihari, takes himself from one Government agency to another while trying to prove to the authorities that he is still alive.

However, the authorities have already declared him as dead and are refusing to budge, while the multiple red tapes only make everything harder. Based on a true story, Pankaj Tripathi delivers a compelling performance as the common man who challenges the bureaucracy. The main theme of this movie is about never giving up, even when everything is going downhill, which has been captured brilliantly on the face of the titular character, Bharat.

  1. Haseen Dillruba

Starring on Netflix, Haseen Dillruba initially appears to be a quaint romantic movie but it takes the shape of a thriller that gets viewers on the edge of their seats very soon. The main character, Rani, is played by the very talented Taapsee Pannu, who is suspected of killing her own husband.

Rani is taken to the police station, where she narrates a story surrounding her husband while the police look for clues to find the actual criminal. Although not a real story, the movie’s overall theme has been inspired by Roald Dahl’s infamous short story Lamb to the Slaughter.

The Airtel Xstream box gives you access to several streaming platforms, so that you can pick or choose the latest Bollywood movie that you want to watch, right from the comfort of your homes.
