The eclectic and multi-cultural ensemble One Drum will return to the Nicolet College stage Saturday, March 29, for a performance that draws on the musical roots of the Caribbean, Africa, Australia, the Middle East and the Americas.
“The last time One Drum was on the Nicolet stage, much of the audience wound up dancing in the aisles,” said Jim Nuttall, Nicolet College theater director. “It was a very creative and high-energy performance.”
Tickets for the 7:30 p.m. show are $15 and can be purchased by calling the Nicolet College Box Office at (715) 365-4646 or (800) 544-3039, ext. 4646. Tickets can also be purchased online by visiting
www.nicoletlive.com. Tickets will also be available at the door, if any remain.
The ensemble is one of Wisconsin’s most popular bands, performing songs, stories and dances that illustrate the cultural origins of music. One Drum is noted for using an extensive collection of aboriginal, ancient, modern and one-of-a-kind instruments.
“Their musical performance is like a conversation –deeply interactive with an uncertain outcome that transforms the performers,” wrote a reviewer for the Big Muddy Folk Festival in Missouri. “The conversation touches the audience as well.”
The Nicolet College Theatre is located in the Learning Resources Center on the Rhinelander Campus, one mile south of the city just off of Hwy. G.
