The storms caused extensive damage to the Turtle-Flambeau flowage area where several people were hurt and some taken to hospitals after a possible tornado hit. Vilas County reports downed trees and power lines but no injuries. (See DNR aerial photos and latest update on damage/injuries.)

Douglas Plude, 43, was convicted of murdering his wife, Genell, by poisoning her and forcing her head into a toilet in October 1999, but won a retrial because of questions surrounding the credentials of a state expert witness. Details of new trial still being worked out.
